I would say no, but to be honest I didn't give them much of a chance we had a dealer locally pushing them pritty hard and its tempting with the 5 year warranty and all but that was the only local dealer and they went out of business last year, I took out one trimmer unit and ran in parking area but I am so use to the stihl stuff I didn't really give it much of a chance, all my small stuff I use stihl, great used resale value, easy to work on, we have a bunch of dealers locally so any thing i need one of them will probally have within reason, after that a couple years back we had some husquvarna stuff still have one of there big chain saws I thought as a over all line of products they were decent as well but never really thought the maruyama stuff was in the same category. My list in order is Stihl, Husquvarna Red Max, Shindaiwa echo Echo trimmers usually produce between 76 and 100 decibels, whereas Stihl models typically produce between 80 and 106 decibels. When being compared to Echo trimmers, Stihl is far behind. The matter then boils down to how loud the noise is. Just my opinion and I am probally a tad bit biased so maybe some more opinions from people who have put hours on these machines is needed good luck. Generally, noise output is unavoidable in whatever trimmer you buy. I know RM/Husky are the same in many models, but there are usually enough differences to warrant using the same engines etc, but offering the changes in comfort features.I would say no, but to be honest I didn't give them much of a chance we had a dealer locally pushing them pritty hard and its tempting with the 5 year warranty and all but that was the only local dealer and they went out of business last year, I took out one trimmer unit and ran in parking area but I am so use to the stihl stuff I didn't really give it much of a chance, all my small stuff I use stihl, great used resale value, easy to work on, we have a bunch of dealers locally so any thing i need one of them will probally have within reason, after that a couple years back we had some husquvarna stuff still have one of there big chain saws I thought as a over all line of products they were decent as well but never really thought the maruyama stuff was in the same category. The 802 is still a Shin machine and a dang great one!). What I don't like is when one manu buys out another, then starts offering the equipment from the company they bought out in that manu's colors, yet it is the same dang thing as what they already sell in their own colors ala Echo/Shin (for the majority of the lines. I think some brands being bought by other manu's do get hurt, but that is not my experience with RM equipment so far. I might feel that way about certain equipment at times myself due to good luck etc, but that simply doesn't make it a fact, but only my experience during that period of time. I highly recommend it to anyone needing or wanting a new trimmer.Īs far as older RM vs newer.some guys had good luck with equipment bought during a certain time period and naturally assume that was the best stuff made. You can get a lemon from any manu, and I just happened to get one. This one has been flawless and is my all time favorite trimmer. I won't go back over all that here again, but after a year, I took it back, the dealer gave me a choice of anything in the same price range and I decided to try another 260 just because it was what I really wanted in the first place due to power and balance etc. Like I have posted numerous times, my first RM 260S was a lemon from the jump.
